Why Massive XRP Banners Just Took Over a College Football Stadium

Football fans in the United States who tuned in to broadcasts this weekend were met with an unexpected sight: giant XRP advertising banners had taken over the stadium's central scoreboard during the University of Kansas' game against MTSU.

The photograph, posted by crypto analyst Nate Geraci, is now being widely discussed across the industry. The answer to why this happened lies in Ripple's large-scale summer expansion: the blockchain industry found an alternative to the overheated NFL and NBA advertising markets by making a strategic bet on college sports (NCAA).

How Ripple is buying the loyalty of America's future investors

Over the past two months, Ripple has closed three unprecedented deals through Learfield, laying the groundwork for long-term influence on a young audience. The first was a five-year agreement with the University of Kansas (KU Jayhawks) — the alma mater of Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. For the first time in the history of major college sports, a cryptocurrency logo was integrated as a patch on the uniforms of all the university's teams.

By September, the expansion had moved south and east, cementing XRP's presence in key states. The University of Florida (Gators) placed XRP logos directly on the field at the 25-yard lines of the iconic "The Swamp" stadium. According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the deal costs Ripple about $5 million a year.

Next, the University of Louisville (Cardinals) integrated the brand into the basketball court at Denny Crum Court, guaranteeing XRP a constant presence in televised broadcasts of home games and direct exposure to millions of future fans.

Unlike the hype-driven marketing of the 2021 era, Ripple's current agreements have a long-term social foundation aimed at building loyalty among a generation of investors. In addition to buying advertising space, the company fully funds digital and traditional finance education programs on campus and is building career pathways for graduates into the technology sector.

With no contracts with professional franchises or international clubs at present, Ripple is systematically capturing the attention of America's future economically active audience.
